Project Flight Presentation on March 21, 2025

In the E.H. Butler Library at Buffalo State University, Project Flight founded in 2000, founded this well-noted book collection that fosters peace.

Project Flight donates and distributes books internationally to children in Africa, South America, and China and the Federated States of Micronesia, just to name a few.

This program gives schools, teachers, parents, and students access to special, carefully selected collections of books and reading programs. It also specifically addresses the development of parents as reading partners.

Completed by professors at SUNY Buffalo State, this series featured an array of innovative collaborations on the topic of family literacy.

Developed in partnership with the Governor's office of New York State, Project Flight established the MLK literacy drive in New York City, Albany and Buffalo to collect new books for the most-deserving pre-k through middle school programs with at-risk children.

Promoting a culture of understanding, equity, peace and kindness is the idea behind a new collection of books available at the downtown Buffalo Central Library, the Frank E. Merriweather, Jr. Branch Library and the Butler Library at Buffalo State University.
